World Heritage Rock Art Centre for - Alta Museum is located in Alta municipality in Finnmark. The museum is situated in Hjemmeluft, approx. 5 km west of Altas city center. Close to the museum you will find one of the five rock art areas in Alta that were inscribed on to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985. The museum is open all year.

The rock carvings outdoors can be seen during the snow free season of the year. They can be visited with a guided tour or on your own using a guidebook and / or audio guide.

Inside the museum there are various exhibitions about Alta's history and other exhibitions with different themes, a museum shop, and a café with a fantastic view over the Altafjord.
